Material Characteristics:
Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide ceramic is a new type of composite structural ceramic produced by using high-purity silicon carbide as the aggregate and silicon nitride as the bonding phase, formed and then reaction-sintered in a nitrogen-protected high-temperature furnace. With SiC content ≤75% and Si₃N₄ content ≥25%, it combines the high-temperature strength and high thermal conductivity of silicon carbide with the high toughness, thermal shock resistance, and wear resistance of silicon nitride. The material features a dense structure, low apparent porosity, and a low thermal expansion coefficient. It resists oxidation, softening, and deformation under long-term high-temperature and heavy-load conditions, making it a new high-performance kiln furniture material for demanding firing and load-bearing applications.
Product Information:
Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide beams are high-performance load-bearing beams made from highly homogeneous green bodies formed by extrusion or cold isostatic pressing, followed by densification through high-temperature nitridation reaction sintering. Fully leveraging the combined advantages of high strength, excellent thermal shock resistance, and dense structure of the composite material, these square beams exhibit outstanding characteristics of no bending, no oxidation, creep resistance, and excellent long-term straightness in high-temperature, heavy-load firing lines.
Performance Parameters:
Bulk density: 2.7–2.85 g/cm³, apparent porosity ≤1%, flexural strength at room temperature ≥180 MPa, Vickers hardness ≥2500 HV, fracture toughness ≥4.0 MPa·m^1/2, coefficient of thermal expansion: 4.8×10⁻⁶ /K, maximum operating temperature: 1450 °C.
Product Dimensions:
Conventional beam products cover cross-section dimensions from 30 mm × 30 mm to 120 mm × 120 mm, lengths from 1500 mm to 4500 mm, and wall thicknesses from 5 mm to 12 mm. Further processing such as surface grinding, end finishing, precision drilling, slotting, tenoning, and threading can be carried out. Yuko Corporation can also customize products according to customer drawings and requirements.
Product Applications:
Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide beams are widely used as support beams in roller hearth kilns for sintering lithium battery cathode and anode materials, load-bearing beam frames in firing furnaces for electronic ceramics and structural ceramics, kiln car pillars in high-temperature heat treatment lines for magnetic materials, kiln furniture beams in tunnel kilns for domestic ceramics and sanitary ware, and structural load-bearing components in the furnace chambers of various high-temperature atmosphere furnaces. They are a new type of support component that replaces traditional oxide-bonded silicon carbide square beams, achieving higher firing efficiency and longer kiln furniture life.
